Habakkuk Chapter 1 & 2
Jul 29, 2025 • David Klingler
Habakkuk 1 and 2 present a dialogue between the prophet and God, centered on Habakkuk’s deep concern over the violence and injustice he sees among God’s people. In chapter 1, Habakkuk questions why God seems silent in the face of evil, and God responds by revealing that He is raising up the Babylonians as an instrument of judgment—a surprising and troubling answer for the prophet. In chapter 2, God instructs Habakkuk to write down the vision, assuring him that justice will come in His perfect timing. The Lord pronounces a series of “woes” against the proud and corrupt, affirming that the righteous shall live by faith.
