Chapters 11 & 12:1-12

Mark chapter 11 shows that Jesus’ triumphal entry fulfills the Old Testament Scriptures. The shouts of “Hosanna,” the withered fig tree, the cleansing of the temple, and the rejected stone all echo the Law, the Prophets, and the Psalms. Mark assumes the reader knows Israel’s story and presents Jesus as the promised King who brings God’s redemptive plan to fulfillment. Understanding this chapter reminds us that the Old and New Testaments form one unified story revealing who Jesus is and why He came.
