The Gospel of Mark concludes with the crucifixion and resurrection of Jesus, fulfilling the Scriptures. Jesus’ cry from the cross echoes Psalm 22, pointing to the suffering Messiah foretold in the Old Testament. Barabbas is released while the true Son of God is condemned, and a Roman centurion declares, “Truly this man was the Son of God.” Mark’s ending calls readers to respond in faith, recognize Jesus as the risen Christ, and carry forward the message of the Gospel.
