Chapters 1 - 3

The opening chapters of Deuteronomy record Moses’ final words to Israel as they prepare to enter the Promised Land. Moses recounts Israel’s past failures to warn them not to fear people more than God. Though Israel trembled before their enemies, the nations feared the Lord. These chapters reveal human weakness but also God’s faithfulness, as He carried His people like a father carries his son. Deuteronomy calls God’s people to trust the Lord who fights for them rather than the obstacles they see.
